Who
are the Secular Franciscans?
-
The SFO is a group (fraternity) of lay men and women who desire to
live their Catholic faith by sharing in
community,
prayer,
ritual and
service.
-
We are pilgrims trying to live out our lives in imitation of Jesus’
love. We have not yet
arrived; we are sinners, who are called to be saints.
-
We are guided more by the virtues of simplicity, humility
and ‘littleness’, than by power, prestige and status.
What
does the SFO believe?
-
To follow in the life of Saint Francis, through the Rule (way of
life) he established.
-
Apply the Gospel to our every day life, under the teachings of the
Roman Catholic Church.
-
That our lives include ’daily conversion,’ through self-examination
of our hearts and minds.
-
Our fraternity meets monthly to share in our spiritual journey
together.
-
We also get together for retreats, social gatherings, Mass and
prayer.
-
There is a Council of voted members that assist in leading
the fraternity.
-
A Spiritual Assistant from the 1st order of the
Franciscan family helps guide the fraternity.
